How to Set up Google Analytics Step By Step

Step 1: Set up Google Tag Manager first

Google Tag Manager is a free Google tag management system.

It works like this: Google Tag Manager collects all of your website’s data and transmits it to other platforms like Facebook Analytics and Google Analytics.

It also allows you to simply update and add tags to your Google Analytics code without having to write code manually on the back end, saving you time and hassles in the long run.
Let’s imagine you want to know how many people clicked on a link to download a PDF file. To accomplish this without Google Tag Manager, you’d have to manually alter all of the download links. If you use Google Tag Manager, however, you can simply add a new tag to your Tag Manager to track downloads.

Click continue after entering an account name.

According to Google, you’ll then create a container, which is simply a bucket containing all of your website’s “macros, rules, and tags.”

Choose the sort of content your container will be connected with and give it a meaningful name (Web, iOS, Android, or AMP).
